TONY GLYNN KC
Tony is a long standing member of the Queensland Bar, having been called to the Bar in 1972, when he commenced practice as a Crown Prosecutor. In 1983 he was admitted to the Private Bar in Queensland and took silk in 1996. Between 1984 and 2004 he was a member of the Qld Bar Council, President of the Queensland Bar Association and President of the Australian Bar Association. Whilst not currently listed as a member of the Qld Bar’s Ethics Committee he is regularly sought after for advice on this subject by members of the Bar.
His areas of practice include:
Criminal defence at all levels, including committals, trials, and appellate work before the High Court and the Court of Appeal
Regulatory offence litigation both at trial and appellate level, including the areas of work health and safety, mining and environmental protection at first instance and at the appellate level (almost all exclusively for the defence)
Domestic Violence Order applications and defending.
Tony has appeared in the High Court, all Australian states (except South Australia) and recently in the Northern Territory. He has also appeared in the Supreme Court of Nauru.
He has presented many papers at seminars, conferences, symposia and in-house presentations for legal firms in Brisbane and Sydney.
